Fridge at 4 °C (40 °F) or below, freezer at −18 °C (0 °F). Times are approximate and conservative; when in doubt, throw it out.
Good to know
- Frozen food stays safe indefinitely at −18 °C; the times shown are for the best taste and texture.
- Date and label containers. Use the oldest food first, and reheat leftovers only once.
- Cooked rice and pilav should be cooled quickly and refrigerated within 1 hour, because bacteria in rice can survive cooking.
- Smell and looks are not a safe test. Food can carry harmful bacteria and still seem fine.
